Siatista

We begin our journey at the imposing Church of Agios Dimitrios in the town of Siatista, built in 1912, with its 25-meter-high bell tower serving as a landmark of the city. We drive for about fifteen minutes to reach the Monastery of Panagia in Mikrokastro (18th century), one of the most important religious and historical monuments in the region. Continuing towards Taxiarchis, in approximately ten minutes, we arrive at one of the most iconic stone bridges of Grevena, Pasha’s Bridge. Another ten-minute drive brings us to the Monastery of the Archangels, located on the banks of the Aliakmonas River, dating back to the 19th century.
The village of Taxiarchis is an ideal stop for rest and a meal before we return to Siatista (approximately 15 minutes) to visit the Church of Agia Paraskevi, built in 1677, in Geraneia Square—an outstanding example of post-Byzantine architecture and art. To conclude, a stroll through the town and its renowned mansions from the 18th and 19th centuries is an absolute must.
