Florina - Nymfaio

We enjoy our walk through the beautiful city of Florina, especially along the banks of the Sakoulevas River, which runs through it. Starting from the Monastery of Agios Avgustinos at the northern entrance of the city, we pass by the Church of Agia Paraskevi and head towards the impressive Metropolitan Church of Agios Panteleimon. Then, a 5-minute drive takes us to the southern entrance, where we find the Church of Agios Georgios (1835).
We begin our journey into the natural landscapes of the region, reaching Polypotamo in 15 minutes, where we visit the 18th-century Church of Agios Athanasios and the newer Church of the Dormition of the Theotokos.
We continue our 20-minute drive to Triantafyllia, where we visit the Church of Agia Paraskevi (1835). Changing course, we head towards Flambouro, a 30-minute drive away, where we find the Church of the Dormition of the Theotokos (1871). From there, we set off for Aetos, another 30-minute drive, where we visit the Church of Agios Georgios (1832).
Each village along our route offers opportunities to enjoy coffee or a meal with local specialties. Eventually, we reach our final destination, Nymfaio, a place where tourism is well-developed, offering a variety of sightseeing, dining, and accommodation options.
We explore one of the most picturesque villages in Western Macedonia, located at an altitude of 1,350 meters, learn about the Arcturos Bear Sanctuary, and either return to Florina the same day or stay overnight. The return journey takes approximately 45 minutes.
