Florina - Petres - Vegoritida

From Florina, a 15-minute drive takes us to Agios Vartholomeos and the Church of the Ascension of Christ, set in an idyllic natural landscape. We will need the same amount of time to reach Vevi and the Church of Agios Nikolaos, an important religious and cultural monument of the region, built in the 15th century.

A 20-minute drive takes us up to Mount Vermio, at an altitude of 725 meters, where we visit the Monastery of Agios Grigorios Palamas, one of the newer monasteries in the area, offering a breathtaking view of the lakes. The region’s other monastery, the Monastery of Agios Panteleimon and Evouli, is also about a 20-minute drive away, situated in a stunning location between Lake Vegoritida and Lake Petres.

The return journey to Florina takes approximately 40 minutes, but deciding to leave is no easy task. The enchanting surroundings of the two lakes invite exploration, hiking, and wildlife observation, particularly during certain seasons. Additionally, visitors can enjoy traditional local flavors at the area’s taverns, making it a truly rewarding experience.
